federal medical diploma

Why it's hard

Federal recognition, regional execution

Language depends on where you work

Your documents and liaison need to be in the right regional language — German, French or Italian.

MEBEKO plus cantonal registration

Federal recognition is only step one — you then register with the medical board of the canton you'll work in.

Certified translation must match

Every document needs certified translation into the correct regional language, to the exact standard MEBEKO expects.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does the price differ by region?
MEBEKO recognition is a federal process, but the region determines the language of certified translation and which local specialists handle your cantonal liaison — Italian-speaking Ticino has the smallest pool of medical translators/liaisons, which is reflected in the price.
What does the price include?
This is our office's professional fee for handling your entire case, start to finish — document preparation, coordinating your certified translation, preparing and submitting the MEBEKO application, and liaising with your canton until registration is complete. It does not include taxes, authority fees, the translator's invoice, or any exam fees — those are paid separately, directly to the relevant provider.
Which canton should I pick if I'm not sure yet?
Pick the linguistic region you're most likely to work in — this sets your translation language. If your plans change, tell your coordinator and we'll adjust.
How long does it take?
Typically 3–8 months from application to a decision, depending on your documents and the canton's registration process.
Do I pay now?
No — you book now with no charge. We'll email you a secure payment link shortly after.
