Questions
Questions
Do I need a driving test?
It depends on the country that issued your licence. Licences from countries on Germany’s exchange list are exchanged without a test; others need one. Choose your country above, or send a request and we check.
How long can I drive on my foreign licence?
For 6 months after you register your address in Germany. After that you may not drive on it until you have the German licence. Apply about 8 weeks before the 6 months end.
What does door to door cost in the end?
€145 for the preparation, fixed, plus €145 per hour we spend with you at the appointment. Your offer has an estimate of the hours; we bill the actual hours after the appointment. Example: €145 + about 2 hours = about €435.
Do I pay now?
No. The request is free. You pay only when you accept our offer, by secure link.
Do I need a translation?
It depends on your city. Some offices accept the licence as it is, others ask for an ADAC or sworn translation. We tell you in your offer, and can organise it: price on request.
What if the 6 months have already passed?
Do not drive on your foreign licence. Send us a request anyway: we check what is still possible in your case.
My country is not in the list. Can you help?
Yes. Choose “Other country” in the form. Rules differ by country; some licences need a test. We check yours and tell you in your offer.
